~sarah bianchi As the first issue of the year this paper was a good start. The paper and its content have come a long way since our first paper last year. This year we were able to get the issue out approximatley around where we wanted to get it out. It was a lot of getting used to the process and teaching all the new people, but i feel we did so in a timely fashion. There was very little white space and we were able to fill up the pages well even without the pictures. Of course there were many mistakes that shouldnt have been there and could have been easily fixed. Many people quoted people iccorectly. The bi- lines were written incorrectly for many articles and there were gramar mistakes. I didnt notice many spelling mistakes though so that was good. Of course we werent able to put pictures and that was a bit of a down fall but there was nothing we could have done about it at the time. I feel this issue was a really good start and issue two is going to be really, really good.
I thought that for this first issue, the layout and quality of the articles were quite impressive. When I read through all the articles, only the select few had mistakes, especially grammar.I noticed that even names were spelled wrong in some articles, and when you start a quote the first letter has to be capital, not lowercase like many quotes in the paper were. Some sentences should have had periods in parts were the sentence was too long, and some had not periods at all. For one feature page the word feature was smaller than the other feature page, but all the other pages were consistent in the size font they were supposed to be in. I was actually surprised how we all worked together and helped each other through the process and we figured out how to make up for extra space, using text boxes. There was little white space, considering that we didn't even put in any pictures. I actually liked a lot of the articles. I thought many were well thought out and had good points and facts to them. The game review was interesting, and had a lot of detail. The layout for it was also interesting; how people's comments were in a specific part of the review, I liked that.
For this being the first paper this year i think it was pretty good we had eight pages. I think we shouldve gotten some pictures in this issue. At least we got the issue out when we planned it to come out so we did good their and some people were really working hard so it can be a good first issue for this year. When i was reading some articles some of them had mistakes like grammer and spelling. At least now some people reconized their mistakes so next issue can be better.
After being in newspaper, our first issue came out like superfast! im proud we prodced it. but it looks werid because our last issue was like 2O pages long, and this one was 4.
honeslty it looked blase . not many pictues and stuff. we need more !
i am happy that we were able to get the articles and everything together so fast. i think that for the next issue we need to add more pages so that more students writing can go in it. i also think we need to add some picture. everything went well we had enough time between drafts and overall i think we did a pretty good job. there were so grammar mistakes and some spelling, but that can al be corrected with a little more proof reading.
definitely better than what we started last year - i can tell we're going to be producing really great stuff by the thrid issue NO JOKE. Maybe we'll actually catch the interest of students as we improve on :)
there are minor mistakes, unfortunately one of them by me (not putting lines next to section heading on pg 2) but as you said, we all learn from seeing it ourselves.
I think we did great for the first time in two months. I think as for getting our articles and laying out on time was okay, we could have done better. I think that a lot more pictures and graphics could have been added. We could also really work on grammar the next time. But we did a great job.
Great start for the first issue. As always there is alot of room for improvment. With all of the knowledge and expoerience we have gained we should be able to produce a better paper soon. this next issue should bve more attractive with pictures to go with the articles and for sure it will be better then the last.
